Heräsimme Eilatissa sohvasurffaushostiemme luona tapojemme mukaisesti varhain, jotta ehdimme bussiasemalle klo 8 bussiin kohti Red Canyon -kanjonia. Matkaa kanjonille on Eilatista vain parikymmentä kilometriä, mutta bussipysäkiltä tien varresta on vielä yli kaksi kilometriä varsinaisen patikointipolun alkuun. Kauaa meidän ei kuitenkaan tarvinnut soratiellä tallustella, ennen kuin ystävällisen israelilaisperheen täyttämä minibussi pysähtyi vierelle ja kuski tarjosi kyytiä, jonka mieluusti otimmekin vastaan. Pafos oli hyvä alku Kyproksen-lomallemme, mutta pari yötä siellä riitti kyllä ihan hyvin. Sieltä ajoimme vuoristokylien läpi kohti Akamasin niemimaata, jossa on luonnonsuojelualue useine patikointireitteineen. Matka oli vain noin 45 kilometriä ja tiet enimmäkseen hyvät, tosin vuoristotiethän ovat aina jossain määrin mutkittelevia ja välillä tielle oli vuorenjyrkänteeltä pudonneita valtavia kiviä, joten varovaisuus oli valttia vuoristoteillä. Tämän reissun voi siis helposti halutessaan tehdä päiväretkenä Pafosista. Paphos was a good start for our Cyprus holiday but a couple of nights there was quite enough.
